This would be big news, but i suspect the writer may have his facts incorrect, which makes it difficult to believe the Iridium piece in it too.

Yeah, what would globalstar do, give us service only when a sat is overhead?

The iridium news, however, is confirmed by the official faq on the iridium north america website.

But in general, we do know more than the people writing the articles. I find it dismaying that there are so few sources of good news about technological things.

With the G* annual report at home, and a memory that blesses me in that I forget how bad it is....I thought the annual report mentioned starting limited service in late '98. Any one have the report handy?

Bill H.: That is the best statement made in this whole pricing discussion. The press and various analysts have repeatedly demonstrated their complete incompetence in the area of global mobile telecommunications, I also suspect that both I* and G* are guilty of some stretching of the facts.
