DLL I didnt take it as being rude. any question or answer put forwaard with respect to the individual it is directed to should not be taken as rude, IMO. It is not my contention that all religions have all the answers. I do think that god can be found in a variety of ways. No less than Mother thereasa was quoted as saying that God can be found through other forms of spirituality as long as the spirituality is practiced fervently and in good faith(I am paraphrasing). I do think that tolerance for all religions, beliefs , and actions, that are based in love is essential. Personally, I dont think that god cares what you call him, or even if you pledge allegiance to him, he will still love you. I am not saying that I am right and everyone else is wrong. I am just stating a personal belief. Mark

DLL - Re "...the idea of a jihad or holy war in Islam..." - it was my impression from reading various writings years ago that the concept of jihad did not come from Mohamet, but from his more radical followers after his death. There are some obvious parallels in Christendom here - the message of love and brotherhood and upright course of action of a number of prophets/seers/venerated figures such as Jesus/Yeshua and Mohamet has been twisted by later 'spokesmen' who would divide rather than unite humanity. Economic motivation often shows up as a fundamental motivation for the twisting, along with desire for power over territory. Imho - and I can hardly present myself as an expert in this, it's been years .... cheers .... marcos
