You raise some good points in your comments about the article. Especially:

If you mean from a U.S. vs. Japan business competition point of view my guess is that it will put us on a more equal footing in the long term with a slight advantage on the inventive thinking side since the West leads there already. Of course its only speculation but one can guess that Japan business practices like the willingness to sacrifice profit margins in exchange for market share may be dampened which, alone, would greatly level the field. One could also assume that more ready access to their market could lead to increased U.S. sales in Japan if they ever start spending again. And one can only imagine what the simple change of having to truly compete for working capital will bring about.
