I told you I wasn't being scientific. Reason for my post? I am an IT consultant focussed in another area. I used to work for a large UNIX systems vendor. I casually observe that more people are taking down X based apps. I also see products like Citrix eroding to some degree the X market (I'm aware of a number of orgs that were using X to access NT-based office productivity apps).

Lastly, clients I have that have X based apps have expressed a general desire to move to "something else" once "something else" becomes available.

I also suspect that new development on X is dropping off. If that is true, then less apps = less users.

Not to be construed as a detailed appraisal of the market -- just my experiences.

Cheers
Mike
