Good morning Paul,

DRAM Supply Glut to Last Three Years: Dataquest
April 22, 1998 (SEOUL) -- The ongoing supply glut of DRAM chips is expected to continue for another three years on the global market, according to U.S. market research firm Dataquest Inc. A "bit cross," where four 16M DRAMs and one 64M DRAM chip will be equal in value, will take place during the third quarter of this year, Dataquest said.

During a seminar in Seoul on April 20, Dataquest said a balance between supply and demand of DRAMs will occur as late as 2001, given lagging demand in the wake of Asia's sagging economy and the market's seeing a steady increase in DRAM production.

Dataquest said the current increase in exports due to the region's currency depreciation, will lead to a growth in production, but profits will not increase largely due to an ensuing supply glut.

Sales of 64M DRAMs will surpass 16M DRAMs during the third quarter of
1998, while 64M DRAM production volume will catch up with 16M DRAM
production during the last quarter of next year, Dataquest said.
