Time Traveler,

Re: " However, upon confrontation, he failed to answer why there are only
1.55M K6 produced this quarter (Q1'98) vs. 1.50M of Q4'97. "

This was also my point to Brian:

"Re: "AMD and NSM to gain market share ..."

Now, I have a serious question for you Brian ... If AMD shipped 1.5M K6's
in Q4'97 and then 1.5M in Q1'98, please explain how AMD is gaining market
share. BTW, the overall PC market grew during this period ... I would say that
AMD actually lost a little market share."

You are right ... It doesn't make sense that AMD can be transitioning to
.25um with more good die per wafer while shipments are flat from
Q4'97 to Q1'98. Something doesn't "smell" good at AMD.

Make It So,
Yousef

By the way, LLTC != Lattice. LLTC is my competitor, yet I chose to invest in them after
encountering their products in the field.

I posted this to Albert about your Lattice investment.

John Y. Wang,

How many profiles and pen names do you have? I was wondering why someone I have never corresponded addresses his reasons to me why he invested in Lattice Semi? A few keystrokes found your ugly past! It appears Time Traveler is what you really cooked up to be --SPACED OUT!!! You head is full of air. How stupid are you to switch pen name without removing your piss marks (John)? Where did you earn (bought) your degree?

BTW John, Intel and AMD are competitors of my employer. I have invested on both companies many times before and currently holding AMD. I don't you any company so they are NOT my competitors. I don't think you own one either.

This is my last post here at the AMD threads until things change. Due to business reasons, I do
not want to participate any more discussions about AMD, and I hope you all understand that. This
is solely my decision only.

Really? How many days did you intended to stay out? Maybe you are just waiting for SI to switch your pen name.

how many pen names do you have here at SI?

Message 3934373

I only got one. How about you?

Very close. Let me give you a hint. When Paul Engel was active here, I wasn't. When I was active,
Paul was not. Now tell me what is my other SI pen name.

My AMD sales representative, who is a very good friend of mine, is very gung-ho over this stock.

For the past years, you have never mentioned this person nor any AMD insiders. IMO, you are just making this up. Your credibility suggest so.

TT: Very simple answer to your question. There is a lead time of 3 months from wafer to finished product. 0.25 micron K6s only started ramping in earnest at Fab25 in Q1, which means these chips won't hit the streets (or add to the bottom line) until Q2. On the other hand, transitioning to 0.25 micron actually takes out some 0.35 micron capacity when the lines are refitted and upgraded etc. This means Fab 25 will not be working at full capacity until the transition is complete. This is to be expected.
Tom pabst hinted at three products based on the K6-3D to be released at the end of May. There will be a 266MHz and a 300MHz version, and a mystery version. This may be a 350MHz version, or a mobile part. Earlier reports confirmed that a good 20% of K6-3D parts from the Fab25 test lots were maxing out at 366MHz and above, which will make a 350MHz version possible at initial release. Many gamers are waiting patiently.
