Sam you are welcome.

Now what do you think happens tomorrow? I say sell off. However there are rumors rampant all over the place about something bigger coming soon. Can't say for certain what this is (the usual buyout thing or not) - they did the poker face routine - did not hint at anything out of the ordinary and were not queried on it. Just like the first c.call where there was no hint of the VSGN deal. They know how to do the poker face routine well!

----

Some other minor details:

On year 2000 they consider theirs a "strategic" solution and not the regular "tactical maintenance" solution of fixing Y2000 code. Also sees opportunity for development of new business as a result. No hint of delayed tools sales. My suspicion is that cheaper hardware in the PC arena translates to higher software/service sales all over the place in the next couple of qs and perhaps down the road for everyone BORL included.

Competitively - the decision is between IONA and BORL. Seeing a bit of BEA but the primary boys are IONA and BORL.

New product - JBuilder 2 should kick some serious butt especially now that they are building "more robust versions" for enterprise development. Figured JBuilder 1 got the "early adopters". And have "great hopes" and have seen a "phenomenal reception" for the product line.

End to end "whole cycle" solutions can now be offered - "develop, deploy, manage". There's revenue in all these steps and it does give them a good advantage.

BORL is becoming like some of my favorite type enterpise software/service companies - revenue/seat type of arrangement! With enterprise deals in this kind of arena the money flows can truly be huge.

Best part - no one mentioned MSFT directly or indirectly for the first time that I can recall! This I like because bumping into MSFT directly can be hazardous to one's health. The old BORL did not know this, the new BORL does.
