Dongbu Group seeks IBM investment in semiconductor unit

SEOUL (AFX-ASIA) - The Dongbu Group is talking with IBM over a possible
capital injection in its semiconductor unit, a group spokesman said.
"IBM is considering our proposal for capital participation. But so far
nothing has been decided," the spokesman said.
IBM had originally pledged to provide only technology last October.
Dongbu delayed its plan to set up plants and equipments for higher-end
DRAM production last December after South Korea was placed under IMF
assistance.
The official said it is uncertain whether the company will resume the
construction of DRAM plants as there are too many variables surrounding the
project.
