Well it's some 7 months later and they haven't caught on as an internet play, I don't think they will either but they are on-line and they look very cheap.

I would think Eddie Bauer alone would command more than $3 a share. Otto Versand, the German parent company, doesn't seem particularly adept at managing. SPGLA is composed of Spiegel, Eddie Bauer and Newport News; all 3 are catalogue based and all are losing money, however, they are losing less, quarter over quarter.

I've always liked Eddie Bauer clothes, their stores are very comfortable to shop in and their clerks are top notch. Lately I think the quality has slid slightly and their Eb-tek brand doesn't appeal to me.

In their latest report, SPGLA says they are working on the colors and styles and are heading back to what made EB a classic favorite. They go on to say they are trimming losses and that EB was actually doing the worst of the 3.

A little bit of action in the price today (internet related?) it jumped from 3 to 5 1/2. I'm in from 3 1/2--anyone else out there?

Lou

Nice movement this morning. Maybe their website has impressed a few folks. I like their approach. You can select different article of clothing and see how they look together! Also the great proliferation of advertising banners in the various searches (LYCOS, NETSCAPE, etc.) may have also excited a few folks.
