(NYSE:BAY - news) today announced it is providing the network infrastructure for Commercial Financial Systems Inc. (CFS), a leader in the acquisition, securitization and collection of non-performing loans. CFS has purchased four million dollars of Bay Networks internetworking equipment for development of an Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) network that will enable the company's Millennium Project, a leading-edge system designed to monitor, track and maintain the status of customer accounts. As a rapidly growing company, CFS needed a flexible network to account for its high volume of traffic and continued growth. They selected Bay Networks' ATM solution because of its ability to provide a highly adaptable and reliable networking solution to support CFS' rapid expansion. CFS anticipates significant growth between now and 1999, as well as international expansion. ''To keep up with CFS' hypergrowth, we needed a high-speed ATM network to handle our traffic peaks and troughs,'' said Chris Horrocks, chief information officer at CFS. ''We chose Bay Networks' solution because of our prior good relationship, the company's reputation as an industry leader and for its ability to provide a flexible, adaptive solution to our networking needs. In addition, Bay offered the best in ease-of-use, price and performance.'' CFS' data network is one of the largest and most sophisticated installations in the industry. The company's next-generation Millennium Project features its own proprietary Credit-Card Information System (CCIS). An industry-leading solution, CCIS enables CFS to download critical credit and financial information and forward the data to its account officers -- allowing them to send, track and approve credit cases quickly and easily in a near paperless environment. Instead of spending hours tracking data and phone numbers, CFS' officers can now connect instantly to customers and serve over 500 percent more calls per day. The Millenium Project has also involved rewriting proprietary software applications to take advantage of a distributed client/server base that includes multiple clustered servers to balance the workload among employees. ''With Bay Networks' networking solution, CFS has transformed the process of collecting debt,'' said Horrocks. ''We are now able to keep pace with changing technology to meet our networking needs -- both today and tomorrow -- and provide the best possible service to our customers.'' Regards Neil
