I think Ranga is a little off base with his history? (historians out there correct me if I'm wrong).. My impression is that immediately pre 1971 the only major currency with gold convertibility was the U.S. (Switzerland and the Lebanon as well? Nixon closed the gold window because the French in particular were exchanging $s for gold
at $35 per ounce, and it was just too good a deal.

Ranga is not looking at the present either - still that's what makes markets. If you're a bear you're a bear and trot all the old rationales.

These "experts" are sounding like a broken record. They obviously wear blinders and pay no attention to the real economic numbers. Follow the sheep to the DOW altar to be slaughtered!! The game we play is to buy low(depressed) and sell high(DOW).
