Dear Brother Gregor: We know God sometimes chooses to communicate with his children through dreams. Think of the two Josephs, the son of Jacob and the earthly father of Jesus. Joseph the son of Jacob interpreted dreams and Joseph the earthly father of Jesus was given valuable information through dreams. Both took the dream messages very seriously and acted upon them. Both also received messages concerning the welfare of others. Therefore, there is clear Biblical precedence for God's people to take dreams that they feel are messages from the Holy Spirit and to respond to them. It seems to me that whether your wife's dream is to be interpreted literally or metaphorically, the same response is required. Since the couple of whom you speak is not saved, a terrible tragedy is always too close for comfort. I am not speaking of the tragedy of an accident (though that clearly would be tragic), but the eternal consequences of such an accident if someone who is not saved is killed. Death without salvation is horrible. Thus, the dream could be a message to YOU to take their lack of salvation seriously and to approach them in love and tell them of the dream and how it relates to God's concern for their eternal souls. If the dream is to be interpreted literally, then it changes little in terms of the call to action. There is no more (nor any less) immediacy to the situation facing this family. Of course, if it is literal then it is also a warning to the family to look out for the situation so the accident can be avoided, and if literal then clearly the Lord told your wife so the accident could be avoided, praise God! By the way, I would not tell the children (particularly the child about whom your wife dreamed) of the dream as they might worry too much. Only tell the parents and let them take appropriate action. I would now like to pray for them and for you and your wife: Dear Father, thank you for putting the salvation of this family on the minds, hearts and dreams of Gregor and his wife. Thank-you also and most especially for loving the lost and providing a way for them to come to You. Lord, I pray your protection on this family and especially this child and I pray your strength and wisdom for Gregor and his wife as they meet with this family. In Jesus precious name I pray, amen. In Christ, Tom
