Nice short #s. I must say that the risk/reward of shorting RIG seems foolish to me. I guess they are waiting for an "October Surprise" drop to cover. I sure don't see RIG or NE dropping back much.

Interesting that the short interest is declining on TDW...I suspect that the floor is pretty solid on TDW and the shorts, at least the smart ones, are covering at these prices.

Then again, on ESV today it looks like new shorts coming back in or just simply some profit taking.

Just a couple of comments on the short interest list.

I'm guessing the high number for HAL has a lot to do with the merger as the arbs are possibly short HAL and long DI. I'm also guessing the high number for NBR may have something to do with their convertible issue (but that is strictly a guess). The jump in NE is pretty wild.

Can someone tell me what is going on with GLM stock price? Is it a feeling that the company may not do well in the near future? I do not understand why GLM is simply hanging out down here when most other driller stocks are on a good rise....

Any guesses as to when we will finally get out of trading ranges?
