The problem with options on the long side is that system or no system, not only does one have to know how much a security will move, but it also has to do it within a certain time-frame. Unless one is very nimble -- and can take advantage of rapid swings, to get in and out -- some are good at this--I am not.

I prefer buying options that are far out in time or selling near month naked options. I have had greater success with the latter than the former.
