Yeah, well, Bork's not half as suspect as any "grass roots" movement for the noble Bill is going to be. Sheesh, Microsoft bought and paid for Charles "Rick" Rule, but somehow the Reagan administration line on antitrust still gets trotted out all the time like it has some relevance. All Bill's World Class, Best-of-Breed Lobbying organization has managed to hire so far are a few retread former congressmen. Of course, there's always Mr. Salvage Rider, Slade Gorton, on his side, but I don't know if he'd do that well on a high visibility issue.

And who cares what Bill says about people who used to be Republicans? Bill says lots of ridiculous stuff. "Windows could be replaced in a day". "We aren't going to compete with newspapers". Then there's always the integrity and uniformity of the Windows experience, though that probably came from the marketing peers. Also "the OEMs have to ship the machines the way we build them.

As for intellectual honesty, I imagine the sacred guardian of the intellectual integrity of this thread, who can argue any position, is to be looked at as an example of this. Me, I'm still suffering from the notorious hobgoblin of small minds, the context keeps eluding me on this stuff.

Cheers, Dan.

>>>As I have said. Gates said that his competitors hired these
people who used to be known as Republican...<<<

So now being pro-competition means you are anti-Republican? This formula should be patented by the Democrats and used in the next election. I think all of us Reagan Democrats will get our buttons pushed the right way! :-)

And by the way, are we now debating the sincerity and charity of lawyers? Perhaps next we can debate the relative chastity of professional escorts. Followed by the modesty of politicians and the demure qualities of lap dancers.

Ole!
