I think McData's switch was actually developed by a division of HP. This division was acquired by McData. I haven't seen any public evidence that there have been further developments, but I guess it would make sense if McData also acquired the FC engineers. They may have felt it was less expensive to resell the Silkworm under their name - I am still looking for the original post.

I wouldn't assume anything out there in this bizarre market. ;-) I believe Roy, with very very close ties to Brocade, says that Brocade is getting IBM's switch biz with its new 8 port switch. Next thing you know, the Justice Department will need to check out another monopoly. ;-)
