That's what you get if you buy the current generation G3s. You can buy a G3 at 275MHz that's twice as fast as the same priced pentium machine. Apple had about a %20 performance edge when they went to the PowerPC, but that has widened dramatically since them. (I'm a shareholder of Intel, btw. I like Intel, but until they change the architecture and move everyone over to a modern architecture they are going to be behind performancewise. They will do this soon.)

I think the "trwice as fast" thing is misleading. What is twice as fast? Floating point operations? Integer math? Graphics?

I think you'd be hard pressed to find an application that was twice as fast on a G3 than a equally priced PC.
