If there were inflation then adjustments to
Social Security and cola's for fed workers
would be very bad for budget, for heaven's
sake, keep the "I" word on this thread only.

Speaking of the tomato: A decent
tomato is $3 a pound where I'm at, but they
are hothouse from Vancouver B.C, so they've
been shipped a couple hours on I-5.
How do you measure inflation, very very
tricky. If all a person needed to live
was milk and eggs maybe there is indeed
no inflation. But, like you said, throw
real estate into the mix and watch cola's
go from 1.5 to 10%.

I think in the end it comes down to wage
inflation. I had an estimate done to get
some fences put in around my lot, this
was a couple weeks ago. The guy said he'd
send me the estimate, and they might be
able to do it in July. Geeze, guess there
is plenty of work, even for unskilled
labor.

Wage inflation is coming, I just hope
to get my dow puts a week before next
fomc, we probably have a few months
left/maybe folks will begin to take
money off the table around dow10k, til
then, enjoy the ride. Gold will have
it's day, but perhaps only after another
ten percent of froth, then other assets
see some money.

Gosh, that message would be more at home
on the BK thread, sorry about the rant.

Richard,

Well ... I live in Toronto - But I can assure you the same thing is going on here too. Anybody that believes the govs inflation numbers has got to be living on another planet. A fully loaded Jeep Cherokee goes for almost 50 g's here ... and that is _before the 15% tax!!

Their numbers are BS ... plain and simple.
