gretta, my trading cycle is longer than a day and all of my trades are placed at the market, after i have previewed them. execution is virtually instant so i know the price and volume. if you are placing limit orders then there is more peril. notification may not be for several hours, if at all. without a real-time monitor of the market it is hard to tell just what is going on. any at the market order is executed 15 minutes before it can be seen in the 15 minute delay price. ameritrade is the best of the deep, deep discounters. good luck
