This appears to be one cent short of estimates of $.45, depends whether they were talking about basic or diluted. I am afraid it was the latter.

green

16:06 [HAL] HALLIBURTON EARNS Q1 45 CENTS BASIC VS 33 CENTS.
16:06 [HAL] HALLIBURTON EARNS Q1 44 CENTS DILUTED VS 32 CENTS.

PK *** RE: " a pure and simple butt whuppin' we took this afternoon "

PK,
You Got that right: What's happening ???

IS it oil going down or something else I'm missing ?

I did sell my MAY ESV and DO calls today for 33% and 30% respectively.

On the earnings question, am I nuts or does Zacks really carry all the weight on earnings ests. to move the stock???
Some Examples Actual Zacks 1st Call
NE .35 .36 .35
VRC .23 .23 .22
SLB .68 .68 .67
etc.etc.
It seems if a co. meets/beats Zacks it's onward/upward regardless of the other estimates. Of course, if co. blows out all ests.like DO & ESV then you're OK.

would appreciate any thoughts. TIA WK <eom>

I don't have a problem with today's action (although I would have liked to see the stocks I want to buy go down as much as the ones I already own).

I agree with LT's take on the NE report. And I don't think the dayrate comments triggered the sell-off. As LT said, it's old news. Also, service and equipment companies sold off along with the drillers, for the most part. The OSX hit resistance. Slum-Burger hit resistance. Some traders cashed in their chips. As long as we don't start making lower lows, I'm ok with the action.

Now let's see some buying opportunities for Big Dog's dream team.

Steve, UFAB may have to pull up the sector by itself. Maybe it's time for me to sell a few shares.
