1. First "pure" oo language to be really practical.

I would agree with that.

2. Java programers are 3-4 times as fast at implementing equivilent functionality as C++ programmers. (Gilder Report)

This statistic is highly dubious. The reason is, they include compile/link times in the C++ programmers effort. The actual coding time is virtually the same.

3. Language and environment effectively solve many of the cross platform issues.

Solve many, create many.

4. Portable, and allows easily distributable applications.

Portable to some extent, agreed. Distribution is easy.

OK, I'm willing to call Java "innovative". You actually changed my mind.
