To Steve G. and Irby : You know the market is frothy when almost every 3rd-4th post contains some kind of news trying to get you on their train. It should be a rule to "must read opening post of thread" so people understand this thread is not for "help" in finding stocks to trade, but rather "techniques of daytrading". But I guess we can't stop 'em from posting whatever. Been a long time since I posted here and have had trouble keeping up with the volume of posts. As I stated before, I'm in "learning mode" for daytrading and decided to try my hand a little this week. Luckily enough, I happened upon SEVL myself without reading any threads yesterday morning and got in at 2 7/8 and sold out at 8 3/4 and 9 1/4. That was just pure luck being in the right place at the right time. Today I was watching ALMI and got it at 5.00 and within 1/2 hr it was about 6 3/8. I wanted to sell but because of all the technical problems today, my buy was not confirmed at that time online, so I called in to sell by phone, but by the time it was answered, I saw 5 7/16. Then decided to hold because I figured the volume was there to bring it back up. WRONG! It then fell down past 5 to 4 7/8 and I had a mental stop put in to sell at 4 7/8. Kicked myself for not doing it just at least to get myself into obeying my mental stops. Then it came back to about 5 1/4 and stalled. I was going to lunch and didn't want to be away while having the position open, so I sold at 5 1/4 to cover commissions and take $50 home. When I got back from lunch, kicked myself for not holding til the last hour because it was over $6 again. My butt sure hurts from all the kicking, but hopefully every day I kick myself it will be a learning experience. At least $50 is better then (-??). And I continue to thank this thread for being concerned with trading strategy, brokers, and tips on bid/ask/sizes. There is so much I've learned and still learning every day. Thanks to all who provide insight, not just "hot tips".
