"Gates and Ballmer are the guys that give an analyst report then go back stage and high five each other saying that they "scared the shit" out of those guys. I've been riding the MSFT wave for seven years and enjoying every bit of it."

Brian,

It is great fun, isn't it?

Many here won't believe you, but this is exactly what has happened over and over.

The simple truth is that it doesn't matter what the stock does over the next several months. MSFT will earn around $3.00-3.20 for the fiscal year ending 7/00. The stock price is likely to be in excess of 150 by then, not the same rate of spectacular growth, but not easy to beat, either.

Some of the wall street guys call them 'mr. gloom and mr. doom' because this performance is so consistent. I thought the interesting thing in the report was that the income from select licenses ($2.5B this year) is growing so fast. this income is deferrable almost at the discretion of the CFO so MSFT can adjust declared earnings pretty easily. Also it is an annuity - the contracts run for years. helps to solve that 'made too much money' problem they had this quarter, look for more income to fall into this category
