"3DFX should be hyping their technology" ... to whom?

The board makers like Creative and Diamond who already see what a smash success Voodoo2 is?

The game players who already consider 3dfx synonymous with quality and speed?

The developers who already know that 3dfx is currently the best chipset out there?

Perhaps the problem with 3dfx is their refusal to describe future products well in advance. I've already read in interviews that 3dfx has plenty of cool stuff in R&D that they think will leapfrog the announced TNT and PVRNG [and I was really surprised to read that from 3dfx]. If they were to publically state what they will come out with (specs, etc), we shareholders would be in great shape, but perhaps it would also tip their competitors. So what might be good for the stock in the short-term might be bad for the company in the long-term.

In any case, the Intel news is old news ... I'm still looking for some sign of use in consumer gaming systems that use cheap x86 chips and ArcadePC specs.

I'm still worried about the competition but I think the earnings report and the interviews I've read have given me more confidence in 3dfx long-term. That said, the whole graphics industry is a real volatile stock business.

Cool down people. 3dfx Interactive Inc. will do fine in the upcoming quarters and continue to blow away estimates. Voodoo2's are flying off the shelves and these Intel fears are overblown by people who don't understand the 3dfx market. Remember the old Peter Lynch saying, in the long run there is a 100% correlation between earnings growth and stock price. Who can deny that 3dfx will continue to grow earnings, and at these valuations there is tremendous upside.

My take is that 1. institutions are selling because of Intel (I mean look at Intel's move today) 2. All the short term momentuum holders that bought in last week got hit with stop losses and margin calls, which forced them to sell.

Look for a positive rebound in the next few days.

TJK Market Letter

Ralph,

The reason why 3Com went down to the 30's was inventory problems along with swallowing up U.S. Robotics, with the x2 modem channel stuffing.

Reminds me strongly of the irrational drop to $9 after the Sega news.

Although today is even worse since there is nothing but GOOD news on TDFX out there. There's alot of money to be made on the rebound IMHO.

I can't take it anymore......!

>>>But this is no correction. This ~30% crash after an unheard of earnings blowout is the result of a coordinated effort by Intel and other competition (like they should)and a lack of effort (like they shouldn't) by 3DFX. Add a little stock market realities/manipulation and here we are<<<

On what FACTS or analysis of FACT do you base the above and your previous statement upon management? Please, I would be greatly appreciative if you were to enlighten me to the information supporting your statements to which I am not aware of. Am I missing something?

Yes, blame it on a management that has taken a company from concept to dominant player in their field, created a standard in that field and engineered a ten-fold increase in earnings for that company and I might add managed to slap their logo on half the games out.

Yes, they are the blame because you have a loss. Ask yourself, have YOU done everything you could to make your speculation profitable. Are you even aware of the things you could do. Ask yourself, given the above has management done everything it could to turn their company into a success? Its a fact that 3DFX is a success.

I must ask, can you name the top five managers of this company? Do you know the background of just the top two (the Chairman and CEO).

Look not to management, but to yourself. Is it management's responsibility to turn your speculation into profits or is it your own. Management's responsibility its to its investors and investors are not speculators. If you have a speculative loss, then turn it into an investment and begin your homework.
