McDATA Corporation and Hewlett-Packard Company today announced that, effective immediately, McDATA has purchased HP's Canadian Networks Operation (CNO). CNO, based in North York, Ontario, Canada, designs and manufactures HP's Fibre Channel enterprise switches, which provide high-performance connections between parallel computing servers. McDATA plans to keep the focused development team in Canada, where employees will continue to design, test and market Fibre Channel switches. >>>

It's no doubt that HP and McData have a relationship. BTW, this news was over 1 year old. McData's FC switch does not compare up with Brocade's and Ancor's IMO. Otherwise why would HP sold them to McData in the first place and evaluating different FC switch vendors now for their new line of SAN products. McData's expertise is in ESCON and large mainframe type setup and ESCON shops will be moving to FC setups very soon if you believe the previous posts about IBM's strategy.
