Well very long question but basically we have a hard to borrow list which outlines those positions which can not under any circumstances be shorted. Those not one the list are generally available but if a position is to be take home overnight (short) a firm borrow must be obtained. In the event of issues which have limited floats, positions not in street name etc.. we always error to conservatisim. And require the position to be covered. Hope this helps. Ross Ditlove MB Trading
