Just make sure that you or anybody else don't use the word Pariah in Tamil Nadu.
It has derogatory implications, esp around decent people and Harijans. One might find himself beaten to a pulp in Tamil Nadu, if this word is uttered in the midst of Harijans and or sympathizers

In my opinion this word should be removed from English language. You might know that a minister in the federal Govt was chastised recently for using this word. It is equal singularly and collectively to N word, T word, W word, M word, and other words to denote derogatorily various ethnic groups in this country.
