Shane,
Perhaps Borland could use an industrialized dose of Pfizer's new drug "Viagra" since it all too often appears to have the "staying power" of a 102 year-old man.
You need the patience of Jobe when investing in Borland.
C'est la Vie!

In a quarter where they (and everyone else) knew they were going to have a loss due to the acquisition, and with the economy down in Japan, it seems odd they were still able to beat the estimates by the same 1 penny they have in the past. Where the VSGN number accounted for 9M, a 2M increase over last quarter, the coincidence that BORL's numbers would add to that 1 penny is hard to believe.

I think Del gambled and lost. I believe he thought that by showing the increase in the VSGN numbers, he would show that the acquisition was not a mistake. And Japan is a popular excuse these days so he felt the market would understand.

And what did he have to lose, they were going to have a loss no matter what he did, so why waste it. And anyway, he still has 9 months before all his options come to fruition.
