I guess Linda McCartney actually died outside of Tucson, at a family hideaway. I saw aerial footage of it on the news a few minutes ago, and it looks like a very modest ranch house, out in the middle of sagebrush. It looks patched together, in fact.

I understand and respect her family's need for privacy. I thought that was why they didn't announce her death until late Sunday, after they had had time to return to England. It really should have occurred to someone that deaths are official events, and that where one happens is not a very bright thing to lie about.

Is is really anyone's business whether it was an assisted suicide? It's certainly none of mine. I think that is a decision people should get to make for themselves. Although I personally doubt that it was, because she seemed to be grabbing every moment that was left and making the most of it, I really don't see why there needs to be an investigation. Is it a really slow news day or something? This was the lead headline in my morning paper:

This is all really too bad, because instead of remembering a soft and gentle woman in a gentle and respectful way, the world's press is closing in, and it has become a spectacle.
