Janko,

we all agree that SCSI (or succeeding technology) will not enter in a mass-maket - it's actually the definition of this sector: offering more speed, more security, more capacity - but for more money.

It's like BMW against Volkswagen.

re initio - sorry, Janko, we call this "Eigentor" - that IS a Adaptec-trademark, during last years distributed by Computer 2000. You have the same chipset on this, you should have the same driver-kit, but mostly a older generation or less features.

I'm in love with Adaptec cause they are far more patient then NCR/Symbios if you have not optimal cables and terminator-resistors/terminator-power. This is mostly not critical when you use Windows 95, but sometimes when you use NT.

However, even Adaptec had a "weak" phase, trying to achieve too much with busmastering in early M/B-generations, they had huge problems provoking shutdowns for free. This was a few years ago, at this time I was learning that Mylex and Buslogic (former Bustek, but they changed the trademark therefor that you cannot see the Taiwanese-origins) were "just cooking with water" too.

As you know, I'm gambling with a half bread of Adaptec, we'll see what happens. My hope is limited, cause mm's are not interesting that much for small companies.

Happy trading!
