It's actually about $225 of platinum per car currently but improvements continue. This is one of the most important areas for why fuel cells are becoming more economic. At one point it was much more costly but they have developed much better methods of production. BLD indicated in their 97 annual report they achieved over a 50% cost reduction in the cost of producing a fuel cell stack in 1997 alone.
