From the mouth of Fred Chan, CEO of ESST:

"We are disappointed with our current video business in the China market. [Read, we are not selling VCD very well.]

We are experiencing intense price competition [which we incidentally started 12 months ago] and slow seasonal demand [because everyone is buying C-Cube's chips].

After a recent review of the [vast] China market, we decided to initiate a more aggressive marketing program for our video products which resulted in substantial inventory reserves for video products [Read between the lines: It is apparent that we cannot sell our inferior VCD units because they stink when compared to CUBE's. We may have to exit the market.]"

Now from the mouth of Alex B., CEO of C-CUBE, aka, the C-Dog:

"C-Cube performed [extremely] well this quarter [especially when you consider what we are doing to the competition]".
