Dennis,

With all due respect to Douglas, because I respect his opinion a great deal, I have a different opinion. While I may not agree with some of the opinions at Vixel (from hearing the ceo speak) and I do believe they either want to be acquired or go public...I believe that if they do go public in the next year, they will bring in very nice rewards for whoever has their shares privately. Will they beat msft in price appreciation? In the short term, I think they may, depending on where you got your shares? :-)

Vixel's strength is in their managed hubs, and they have attempted to get into the Switch side of things becuase it seems common knowledge now that networks (even SANS) grow from hubs to switches eventually. However, a recent article in Data Comm, I think, kind of painted their newly acquired switch (Arcxels) as 3rd rate compared to the other two switch people, Brocade and Ancor. The switch market, sans Sequent :-), has yet to take off but will. I don't know how prepared Vixel will be, but I gather they will be.

all imho,
pigboy
