I think its the initially intro and the retail level trying to make a buck
until most have the new systems ava over the next couple of weeks.
The suppliers are charging the OEM's from "0%" to 10% premium for PC100 right now, so the price difference is not justified.
Good trading.

Larry, I don't think that the pricing we see on PC100 RAM means much
right now. While it is difficult to tell if there is a severe
shortage, it is clear that there isn't a large surplus. The result is
that most of the PC100 RAM is going to the large OEMs and the spot
and retail markets are not very liquid. On the other hand, it will be
a while before there is any real demand from anyone but large OEMs.

We just went through this same scenario with SDRAM and the Micron
conference calls always indicated that the contract price premium
for the rarer parts was not very high. Micron knows that this is a
high volume part in the near future and is trying to get design wins,
qualifications, and purchase commitments.

Look at the market for boxes. It will not support a significant
price premium for a high unit volume.
