RE: DATEK, I also had a problem with DATEK, two marketable sell orders yesterday (Wednesday) on a fast moving stock (not TDFX) that didn't fill in ten minutes. It basically cost me $5,000. I called the DATEK trading department and was informed there were some "server problems" in the early morning. It is hard enough to make money in the market with a reliable broker, much less an incompetent outfit. I don't need this aggravation. I have lodged a request that DATEK make my orders good, and we will see if DATEK has any accountability for their "server problems." I wouldn't drop the mater if I were you, I plan to go to arbitration if necessary. Basically, I have now concluded that this whole online brokering business is run by a pack of wolves. Buyer beware! If anyone else out there has some particularly good or bad experience to share about their online broker I would be interested. Also is there another SI thread that would be a more appropriate forum?

Regards, Greg

I have accounts at both Datek & E*Trade, and have had far more trouble with the Datek firm. At this point I find the E*Trade firm a little more expensive, but much more reliable..
