Where IS Jim Baker when we need him? Do you remember that it was the concerted effort by the G-5 that brought the dollar down and fueled gold? The dollar was a lot higher then, 260 yen to the dollar.
About half that today. International funds were starting their hey day.
Our market which had bottomed in Oct. 1982 was just starting to accelerate but had a couple years before the crash.
Interestingly, the XAU didn't start to really crank up until June 1986. Now a days, the XAU is ultra-sensitive to the POG.
In a sense we could be in a similar period for gold 'cept the dollar don't have as far to fall and our bull market is now a lot more mature.
