I am not short but doing covered call. Sold some yesterday to lock
in short term profit. Premium is so delicious.

I didn't put in my forecast (too busy watching my TDFX drop), but I do not expect CYMI to report blowout earnings. I expect the backlog to drop and the earnings to be 0.10-0.11. I'm usually wrong, though. For what it's worth, I'm long at a basis of about 20.

Tulvio,

Even with decreasing net margins (due to continued expansion of plant, hiring of staff, more R+D), and pushouts in new demand due to Asian Flu, with the backlog CYMER had going into the Q and their current laser capacity, I didn't see any way they could only make $0.09.

Okay, maybe there are a couple of ways that I can think of:
(FOR ALL YOU PARANOID PEOPLE AND RUMOR-MONGERS OUT THERE I DON'T THINK THIS IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING :-)

1. No new orders AT ALL because of Asian Flu
2. Huge problem with the production line and they produced malfunctioning lasers for 2/3 of the quarter.
3. CYMI staff held too many beer-bashes; staff too hungover to come in and work.

Can anyone else think of good reasons why CYMI would not be producing at or near capacity (except for some pushout due to Asia?)

I'm looking forward to earnings as much to find out where I went wrong in my prediction as I am to find out how the stock should do.

Thanks,

Bollmonster

Tulvio,

I'm a long, but I think estimates for CYMER are a bit long also. Just got off the Stock Swap thread where a bunch of semi-equip mfgrs. earnings have been posted this morning, including UTEK (Ultra-Tech Stepper), which came in a .02 vs. last year same qtr. of .21.

IMHO, CYMI is going to feel same impact (but certainly not to the same extent). For those of in CYMI for the long haul, however, this news should not be disturbing.

Regards,

Knip

It's hard to be negatives when every other report from the industry mentioned moving to smaller sizes.

I'm not expecting great results this Quarter but I think the 2nd half will be positive. Who knows where the stock will trade regardless of earnings? I was totally confused with the last runup after reporting.

SVGI reported yesterday. Sales OK, backlog down.
