From what I understand, he is fighting the charges at a great personal expense. I'm not surprised. I also understand that the SEC is pursuing him for the gains that the broker made on his transaction. I think that the SEC is going to have a difficult time with that one!!! but...they will make their point. That is exactly right, they will make their point. A lot of times both they and the IRS will get involved in a real nasty high profile case that they realize they may lose just to scare the hell out of everyone else. Just like the ancient mongols. Whenever they conquered a new territory they would round up the leaders and nail them to trees at the entrance to the town or village as a message to everyone else not to get cute. Terrorism 101.
