Here is the link for the story. The recent 4 point run-up probably was due to this news leaking out earlier this week, remember, the small investors are always the last to know. Mutual fund buying was obviously going on this week. As i stated yesterday, there were at least 20 100K share blocks bought.

From yesterday's WSJ CPQ short interest at 75 million through mid April vrs 71 million one month ago. One month ago the stock price was lower than it is today (try $24 on Mar 23). My guess there is just as many short that are under water as there are longs under water at this price. The difference is the longs are under zero pressure to sell. I really don't think shorty has the same luxury.
