I have two theories on the reasons what happened last time. (FYI "last time" refers to the drop before the 12/5 earnings pre-announcement.)

1) The MM's knew that there was good news coming and did all they could to trigger stops in advance so they could pick up shares cheap.

2) The MM's didn't know what the news was and hedged against it being bad news by dumping.

Reality was the earnings pre-announcement came, the analysts revised, and share price increased by 35% the next day, followed by a further 11% the day after that.

Which leads us to now. We are in a similar state of affairs. The price has been beaten down for reasons we only guess at. The fundamentals of the company have not changed. Management is in New York talking to Buckingham (definitely) and Merrill Lynch (I only know this through rumor).

I was just pointing out that the situation seems similar to me.
