Are you sure Win98 its way faster? What I've read suggests little difference there. And in fact disk access under FAT32 may be a fair bit slower, from what I've read. (Although much more efficient user of space w/large hard disks).

Dual monitors seems neat. I suppose though this won't work with a laptop w/and external monitor right. I mean, I suppose you probably need two graphics cards, no?
