AMCON Reports Record Revenues and Profits May 5, 1998 05:26 PM OMAHA, Neb., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- AMCON Distributing Company DIST , an Omaha-based consumer products distributor, reported record sales for the second quarter ended March 31, 1998 of $68.9 million, a 72.3% increase over comparable sales of $40.0 million for the second quarter of the prior year. Operating income for the second quarter was $925,660, an increase of 161.1% over the prior year. Second quarter net income for the current year was $268,244 or $0.11 per basic and diluted share, an increase of 103.9% over the second quarter of the prior year. For the six months ended March 31, 1998, AMCON reported record sales of $133.9 million, a 64.5% increase over comparable sales for the prior year. Operating income for the six months was $2.4 million, an increase of 126.2% over the prior year. Exclusive of nonrecurring gains, net income for the six months was $940,020 or $0.38 per basic and diluted share, compared to $458,360 or $0.19 per basic and diluted share for the prior year. A nonrecurring gain of $650,180 or $0.26 per basic and diluted share was realized in the prior year in connection with the sale of the Company's beer distributorship in Denver, CO. William F. Wright, Chairman, said "Sales, operating income and net income all increased significantly for the second quarter due to 19.5% growth in our core business and the addition of the St. Louis distribution center and Food For Health which added $21 million in new sales. The benefits of those acquisitions are now beginning to be realized."
