DELL's bond receives strong reception in the market.

Jim:

It looks like Dell's bond was received rather well in the market place.

Investors also showed strong interest in Dell Computer Corp's (DELL - news) $500 million debut bond offering, which was priced yesterday via Morgan Stanley Dean Witter, traders said.

Spreads on the computer maker's 30-year bonds tightened to 112-111 basis points after being priced yesterday at 117 basis points over Treasuries, traders said.

Jim, the WSJ reported today that CPQ shut down its biggest plant during the first two weeks of April in order to reduce PC inventories. The shutdown idled 3000 workers in Houston. The plant has now resumed 24 hr. production. The piece also says CPQ imposed a hiring freeze which cut its work force by 1000 employees.

I don't have a link.
