It definately works on the ferries, as they have repeaters actually on the ferries. I have not tried it out on the sound yet. In theory, the ferry repeater should work for boats too, it just moves with the ferry. From a technical perspective, you should be able to get some coverage there, as there are land areas with full coverage within range. I had coverage in the suburb where I live long before it was in the "coverage area." In other words, I was getting access thru repeaters that were supposed to be too far away. Also, the speed degrades gracefully depending on how strong your connection is. (Of course, Metricom uses spread spectrum (like CDMA is))
