ICI says Millennium bug to cost 80 mln stg

LONDON, April 23 (Reuters) - Britain's Imperial Chemical Industries Plc (quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: ICI.L) said on
Thursday it expected to spend a total of around 80 million pounds in dealing with the problem of the Millennium computer bug.

In a speech to the group's annual meeting, chairman Sir Ronald Hampel said about half of this had already been spent.

''I believe we have been among the most efficient in getting to grips with this problem, '' he told shareholders.

Hampel said ICI said the group was also preparing for European Monetary Union.

''Our belief is that amongst other things it will provide much needed clarity in pricing,'' he said.

''We intend to take full benefit of suppliers across Europe pricing in euros from day one,'' he added.

($ equals 0.598 British Pounds)

The IMRS intraday chart showed the stock fell though the lower long term trading channel. Not good news. I got faked out mid day and bought more June 45 calls.Fortunately only 7 contracts.
