BEIJING, April 21 Asia Pulse - Changhong Electronics Group of Sichuan Province has remained at the top of China's 100 most powerful electronics enterprises for the third year running, with an annual sale volume of 16.07 billion yuan.

Total sales of the 100 electronics makers hit a record 200.5 billion yuan, 51.5 billion yuan or 34.5% more than the combined total of the top 100 in the previous year. The bottom-lister had an annual sale volume of 348 million yuan as against 306 billion in the previous year.

Among the top 100, 51, instead of 40 in 1996, each had sales of more than one billion yuan, and 18, instead of 14 in 1996, each had sales of three billion yuan.

Sales of the top 100 accounted for 76% of the electronics industrys total sales in 1997, four percentage points more than in the previous year.

A group of leading enterprises posted record production. They include:

-- VCD player producers of Jiangsu Shinco, Fujian Malata and Guangdong Idall, which produced 1.8 million, 1.36 million and 1.1 million units, respectively;

Cube has Malata and Idall and ESS has/had Shinco.
I thought the volumes between Idall and Shinco were farther apart.
