Although there were some obstacles with one of its accounts, Cirrus was able to keep its market position, said Jonathan Joseph, an analyst at NationsBanc Montgomery Securities, San Francisco.

"Despite working through a product transition cycle at a key mass storage account, which will curtail near-term growth, Cirrus continues to be the world leader in read channel controllers, with Texas Instruments number two," he wrote in a recent report.

Joseph added that the company is hoping for a "good DVD (both ROMs and players) ramp" in the second half of the calendar year and could benefit from an uptick in set-top box sales.
