I hope these Email notifications do not go out over/only over AOL.

Our server is not on AOL, The e-mails are broadcast from a Unix server connected via multiple Tier 1 pipes to the internet. The E-mails are actually sent by a server side program, so that when Joe posts, all the e-mails are sent out and timestamped simultaneously to his post. What does this mean?

Basically the e-mails do not have to go through Joe's ISP (whether AOL or anyone else) before they get put on the internet. The server is directly on the Internet hub.

Now here is the gotcha, the e-mails still have to go through your ISP's and depending how your ISP has their POP server connected to the internet, the e-mail may have to be relayed through one or more POP servers before it gets into your mailbox. So the weak point is in the receiving end. Is there a solution?

There's always a solution and I am looking into yet as I write this to you (Yes, I multi-task.) Why am I doing this? Because, I love you :)
