yeadon,
wasn't it smart money that recommended this stock for 1998 in the first place? now they got egg on their face and not unlike analyst who make wrong calls they are downgrading the stock. come on.
i have learned a long time ago most analyst are idiots and have a vested interest in playing the stock one way or the other. if you make decisions based on analyst opinions you are not doing the right research. john krulak has downgraded mu and intel and making predictions the stocks will hit 52 week lows. neither prediction has come close. hey, lets be happy that digi is moving in the right direction albeit at a slow pace.

Thanks for telling us about what an analyst thinks about DIGI's product line.

Do you remember when DIGI was trading above $40 about 3 years ago? What was different about the company or analysts' perceptions of it at that time? It's hard to believe that this issue has fared so poorly despite the growth in the industry it purports to be a player.

Many of the comments here complain of the poor management. Is it the only problem, or are the products in the pipeline nothing better than low-margin commodities?

I remember reading that DSC's product lines spanned the switching, transport & access sectors of the telecom market. I also took note of the fact that DSC has a very broad customer base scattered around N America and the world. I am dumbfounded at why DSC cannot be rolling in the money.

Speaking of takeover speculation...

Lucent sees potential for deal in frame relay area

Monday April 27, 4:56 pm Eastern Time

NEW YORK, April 27 (Reuters) - Lucent Technologies Inc (LU - news), which announced plans to acquire data networking equipment firm Yurie Systems Inc (YURI - news) for $1 billion, said it may want to pursue a future deal in the frame relay arena.

Frame relay ''is a space that customers are interested...you could expect either an internal development or acquisition in this space in the time to come,'' said Bill O'Shea, president of Lucent's data networking systems group.

O'Shea, in a conference call with analysts and reporters, declined to comment on the timing or specifics of any possible deal, but said frame relay is consistent with Lucent's focus.
