Hi -

An interesting thread on options. There are over 100,000 different option prices every day. Most of them are bid/ask and have very little volume/open interest. To download that every day like stock prices is not feasible.

I'm looking at putting the current day's option prices on a web site in an sql database. This would allow you to run some searches for high implied volatility or Wade Cook type scans on the day's data. You would also be able to download an option chain for selected issues.

We have no plans to maintain a database of option prices. It is more trouble than it's worth. There are just too many of them, and they turn over too frequently.

Let me know what you think.

R2 will be here shortly. The cd's are being pressed now, the manual is being printed now, and the new web site is being developed now.

Thanks for all your input, this is a very professional group. I'm constantly impressed with the quality of the people and the quality of the discussion here.

Best wishes,

Gary Lyben

I suggest you call QP and ask to talk to Gary- It is hard to reach him but if you say that you are from the QP SI thread - he may be able to be reached. If so- discuss this stuff with him directly- He can easily explain his approach and the pros and cons to what is best for you.

OOPS- I just read the thread and here he is himself- Gary you are quite nice to us to listen to the thoughts of the masses. I don't think I have ever run into a "listening" vendor the likes of QP. COngrats on a great product.
